LIES THEY TELL YOU (AND THE TRUTH)
They say solar doesn’t work. They say it’s too expensive. They say the tech isn’t ready. Here’s what the DATA says.
We’ve heard every talking point from the utility lobby and their media allies. Below we destroy every single one — with government data, named sources, and zero spin. Read it. Save it. Share it with anyone who’s still buying the establishment’s line.
LIE #1: “Solar doesn’t work in cold weather or cloudy climates.”
THE TRUTH: Germany — which gets less sunlight than Alaska — generates a higher percentage of its electricity from solar than any U.S. state. Solar panels work on light, not heat. In fact, panels are slightly more efficient in cool weather than in extreme heat.
The real question isn’t your climate. It’s your roof angle, your local rate, and your system size. Get the numbers, then decide.

LIE #2: “Solar is too expensive.”
THE TRUTH: Solar panel prices have dropped 89% since 2010 (IRENA, 2024). A system that cost $50,000 in 2010 costs under $20,000 (after tax credit) today.
Meanwhile, your utility bill has increased an average of 3.5% per year since 2010. The math on solar has never been better. The only people who benefit from you believing solar is “too expensive” are the utilities.

LIE #3: “Solar panels don’t last long enough to pay for themselves.”
THE TRUTH: The average solar panel comes with a 25-year production warranty — guaranteed to produce at least 80% of rated output for 25 years. In practice, panels last 30-35 years with minimal degradation.
The average payback period today is 7-10 years (NREL, 2024). That leaves 15-25 years of essentially free electricity after payback. Anyone claiming panels don’t pay back has either old data or a utility company paycheck.

LIE #4: “Solar is an environmental thing — not for conservatives.”
THE TRUTH: 70% of Republican voters support solar energy (Fabrizio Lee, 2023). 73% of new residential solar was installed in states Trump won in 2024 (SEIA, 2024). Texas and Florida are the top two solar growth states — both Trump states.
Solar is about money, independence, and American manufacturing. It has nothing to do with environmentalism. It has everything to do with stopping the monopoly from robbing you.

LIE #5: “The technology isn’t ready for mainstream use.”
THE TRUTH: There are 4+ million solar installations on American homes right now (SEIA, 2024). The technology is not experimental. It is proven, mature, and works as advertised. Your neighbor might already have it.
The only people saying “the tech isn’t ready” are the same people who said the same thing five years ago, and ten years ago, and will say it five years from now. They say it because ready technology threatens the monopoly.

LIE #6: “Your HOA can say no.”
THE TRUTH: 44 states have solar access laws that prohibit HOAs from banning solar installations (DSIRE, 2024). If your HOA says no, in most states they are breaking state law. Period.
You may still need to follow reasonable aesthetic guidelines (panel color, placement), but an outright ban is illegal in 44 states + D.C. Know your state’s law. If your HOA threatens you, cite the statute number. Watch them back down.

LIE #7: “Solar hurts your home’s value.”
THE TRUTH: Solar adds an average of $15,000 to home value (National Association of Realtors, 2024). Homes with solar sell for 4.1% more on average than comparable homes without solar.
That is not a marginal benefit. That’s a $15,000 equity gain on top of the energy savings, on top of the tax credit. The idea that solar hurts your home value is a utility lobby talking point designed to keep you writing checks.

LIE #8: “You need to be off-grid to benefit from solar.”
THE TRUTH: The most economical solar setups are grid-tied systems — connected to the utility grid, feeding excess power back via net metering, drawing from the grid when needed. You get the bill reduction WITHOUT the expense of a large battery bank.
Full off-grid is available for those who want it — and makes sense in some situations — but it’s not required to cut your bill to near-zero.

LIE #9: “Solar is only for wealthy people.”
THE TRUTH: The 30% federal tax credit, combined with solar financing options and falling panel prices, has brought solar within reach of the average American homeowner. The average solar installer offers payment plans where the monthly payment is LESS than your current utility bill — meaning day-one positive cash flow.
This isn’t a luxury product. It’s a financial decision that ANY homeowner with a southern-facing roof can make profitable.

THE ONLY QUESTION THAT MATTERS
You’ve seen the lies. You’ve seen the data. There’s only one question left:
Are you going to keep believing what the utility lobby tells you? Or are you going to look at the numbers and act?
THE TRUTH SETS YOU FREE. SOLAR SETS YOU FREE. 🇺🇸
- GET YOUR MONEY BACK → — The 30% credit is yours
- STOP FUNDING THE CCP → — Buy American panels
- THE BIGGEST SCAM → — How the monopoly works
